ロニェル・コンプラ / Ronyel Compra！

We are very honored to invite Ronyel Cmpra for our next residency artist of AIR-H!!!

He will participate for 'Port to Port #4'!

Ronyel Compra

Born in the Philippines in 1985. Studied painting at the University of the Philippines, Cebu. Using natural objects such as tree branches, stones, soil, and bones, he creates works in various forms such as prints, paintings, sculptures, and installations. He incorporates local history, culture, craft materials and techniques, as well as personal stories, as reflections of the memory of the place into his artwork. in 2019, he was a finalist for the Ateneo Art Award organized by Ateneo de Manila University, and in 2020 for the Corona Disaster. In 2020, he participated in an artist residency at Bellas Artes Projects in Bataan, Bataan. He was also a recipient of the NoExit Grant for Unpaid Artistic Labour-Philippines from Para Site, an art space in Hong Kong. In recent years, he has been based in Bogo City, Cebu Island, where he also organizes various workshops and art projects.

ロニェル・コンプラ

1985年、フィリピン出身。フィリピン大学セブ校で絵画を学ぶ。木の枝や石、土、骨などの自然物を用いて、版画や絵画、彫刻やインスタレーションなど、さまざまな形式で作品制作を行っている。地域の歴史や文化、工芸品の素材や技法、また個人的な物語などを、その場所の記憶が反映されたものとして捉え、自身の作品制作に取り入れている。2019年には、アテネオ・デ・マニラ大学が主催したアテネオ・アート・アワードのファイナリストになった。その他、コロナ禍の2020年には、バターン州ののBellas Artes Projectsでアーティスト・、イン・レジデンスに参加した。また、香港のアートスペースであるPara SiteのNoExit Grant for Unpaid Artistic Labour-Philippinesの受賞者である。近年は故郷であるセブ島のボゴ市を活動拠点とし、さまざまなワークショップやアートプロジェクトの企画なども行っている。
